Ivette Fuentes (Dj La Coqui) was born in the town of Humacao on the Eastern shores of Puerto Rico – the Jewel of the Caribbean. She grew up surrounded by music. From traditional Bomba and Plena to the sounds of unforgettable salseros as Sonora Ponceña, Roberto Roena, Bobby Valentin, Hector Lavoe, Willie Rosario, to all of whom she attributes her love of salsa music.
Currently, Ivette is one of the most salsa DJs in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. On her mixes, Ivette shows her pride in her Puerto Rican heritage and her love for music that will make you move your feet and dance. “Keep moving forward, Boricua, don’t go back, not even to pick up speed!”
