Willie Colon will perform in San Juan (Puerto Rico) on Friday, December 18th.
The coliseum Jose M. Agrelot, El Choliseo, is the venue where Colon will bring some “alegria” to the Boricuas that these days are suffering huge economic problems. Also, other big names of Salsa music will join Colon to sing and play, mainly, songs from the album Asalto Navideño with Hector Lavoe.
Willie Colon has communicated his desire to give to Puerto Rico something that doesn’t cost anything, which is music. He wishes that one night, people could forget all the problems and remember with nostalgia the wonderful songs from this unforgettable album, Asalto Navideño. We have to point that 17,000 people have been fired from the public sector in the last few days.
Since Asalto Navideño came out in the seventies, this release has been a top seller, year after year, during Christmas time. Songs like “Canto a Borinquen”, "Popurrí navideño", "Traigo la salsa", "La Murga de Panamá", "La banda", "Doña Santos" y "Cantemos" are classics of this season and with this concert, the desire is to remember the greatness of Hector Lavoe.
The last time that Colon performed in Puerto Rico was in September, 2007 during the opening tour for "Homenaje a El Cantante de los Cantantes: Héctor Lavoe World Tour", which included artists like Cheo Feliciano, la India, Yomo Toro, Domingo Quiñones e Ismael Miranda, among others.
Colon was the “right hand” of Lavoe during years and, both, dignified Salsa music and made it popular around the World with legendary productions like El Malo, Cosa Nuestra, La gran fuga, El juicio, Lo mato and The good, the bad and the ugly.
