One of the most popular labels specialized in Latin music at the time, Westside Records, made a huge impact with legendary heavy-hitters such as Tito Rodriguez, Ray Barretto, Vicentico Valdés, Chucho Avellanet, and Vitin Aviles. In the early 70’s two very successful Latin imprints, Musicor and U/A Latino, sold their notable Latin catalogs to West Side Records. Many of the top Latin artists from the sixties recorded under Musicor and U/A Latino and Westside brought those classic albums back to life. In 2009, Codigo Music, owner of Fania Records, also acquired the West Side catalog to cover the full spectrum of Tropical music.
