Hector Lavoe Historia De La Salsa
Héctor Juan Pérez was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on September 30, 1946. He moved to New York City in the mid-'60s. His first recording was made with the orchestra of Kako Bastar, singing as lead backup vocalist in 1967. That same year, he began an artistic partnership with trombonist Willie Colón. His debut LP with Willie was El Malo. From 1967 to 1973, they released such classic albums as La Gran Fuga, Cosa Nostra, Lo Mato, El Juicio and the two volumes of Asalto Navideño.

Héctor was also one of the main singers with the Fania All Stars. He was considered to be the best sonero after Ismael Rivera (El Sonero Mayor). Héctor had a reputation for being late to his many commitments.

A number of personal tragedies affected his artistic life - such as the death of his son. Héctor Lavoe died in New York on June 29, 1993.

This production includes some of his greatest hits: “La Fama,” “Amor Soñado,” “El Rey de la Puntualidad,” “El Todopoderoso,” “De Ti Depende,” and “Todo Tiene Su Final.”
